NEW FLYING SITE AT GREENHILL.

The Oldham and District Model Aero Club has been given permission by Oldham Council to now use the Greenhill field based near Alexandra Park (see map below).

The field is accessed from Kings Rd. or Honeywell Lane.

Flying is from :-
9.00am. to dusk Monday to Saturday and
12.00pm. to dusk on Sunday.

NOTE :- The field cannot be used some Sundays in winter due to football matches being played on one of the fields. Members will be informed and told when these days are.

Crompton Moor

The Crompton Moor flying site is still available to us but due to adverse weather this year, the site has not been mowed and made acceptable for flying. However, for gliding purposes and small powered models, it is still useable, so please use it when you can. We still have the permission from August 1st. to 31st. March.

Please contact us for further details of entry and use.

Frequencies used at the sites.

Radio Frequencies.

Frequencies in the 35MHz. band will be used from 55 to 90 EXCEPT 80 to 85 inclusive which are reserved for GLIDERS ONLY.
The latest 2.4GHz. models are now being used and this should be pointed out to the other fliers on reporting to the field and prior to switching on the Transmitter.

Currently whilst flying at Greenhill or Crompton Moor, the following frequency regulations will apply :-

GLIDERS will use EVEN frequencies EXCEPT when being towed on the power field when they will use ODD.

FIXED WING, HELICOPTERS and TOWED GLIDERS will use ODD frequencies.

THE "PEG BOARD" SYSTEM WILL BE USED WHEN POSSIBLE. TAKE A PEG OFF THE BOARD AND FIT IT TO YOUR TRANSMITTER AERIAL FOR EASY IDENTIFICATION. DO NOT FORGET TO RETURN THE PEG TO THE BOARD ONCE YOU HAVE FINISHED WITH IT AND SOMEONE ELSE CAN THEN USE THE CLEARED FREQUENCY.

PLEASE NOTE :- ALL MEMBERS MUST DISPLAY A FREQUENCY PENNANT ON THE TRANSMITTER CLEARLY SHOWING THE APPROPRIATE FREQUENCY NUMBER ON 35Mhz AND ALSO DISPLAYING A DISC ON THE FLIGHT LINE WITH THE SAME NUMBER IF THE "PEG BOARD" SYSTEM IS NOT BEING USED. THIS DISC SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE FLIGHT LINE ONCE THE CURRENT FLIGHT IS FINISHED SO THAT OTHER MEMBERS KNOW WHEN THE FREQUENCY IS FREE. PLEASE ALSO ASK THE MEMBERS ON THE SAME FREQUENCY IF ALL IS CLEAR AS A SECONDARY POINT OF CLARIFICATION.

The frequency DISC should be ORANGE in colour with the frequency marked in WHITE or BLACK and with the name of the owner on either side for identification purposes.

SAFETY IS NO ACCIDENT !

FIRST - TRANSMITTER - This MUST NOT be switched on in the car park area or on arrival at the field until you have checked that no-one else is using your frequency. Common sense, but worth noting again.

SECOND - CRYSTALS - Again check with frequency control and the flight line disc arrangement prior to switching on and checking the frequencies in use at the time.

THIRD - FREQUENCY PENNANTS - The BMFA stipulates, and it is also a Club rule, that an orange pennant with white numbers must be used at ALL times in the 35Mhz. band.
